Aviatra 365 Lessons
Here's what you'll learn in the on-demand Aviatra 365 program:
Lesson 1: Idea validation
We kick off the program by teaching you ways to validate your business idea so you can zero in on what your customers want...without wasting time creating something they don't want.
You'll also see examples of successful, woman-owned businesses and other inspiring stories.
Lesson 2: SWOT analysis & target market
In this lesson, former Aviatra president Nancy Aichholz explains how to do an analysis of your business's Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) and why this is such an important exercise.
You'll also learn how to evaluate the market that you will be targeting with your products and services. Your goal will be to find a strong market filled with buyers ready and able to purchase from you.
The last topic covered in Lesson 2 is crafting your "unique value proposition," (UVP) which is what sets your business apart from others selling the same thing. Once you are clear on your UVP, you can use it to wow your customers.
Lesson 3: Legal & insurance options and considerations
It's important to choose the best legal business structure for your needs. This lesson compares the options and also discusses protecting your intellectual property. Continuing the theme of protection, you'll learn about the different types of insurance to consider in order to safeguard yourself and your business.
Lesson 4: Accounting and banking
Lesson 4 shares the best practices for business accounting and banking. This is critical to ensure you are handling your money properly and keeping a close eye on your costs and profits.
Lesson 5: Pricing
How do you know what to charge for your products and services? This lesson will explain several models you can use and shares the importance of understanding your costs--after all, the goal is to be profitable!
Lesson 6: Funding and personal finance
Financial management is critical for your business's success. Lesson 6 explains how to:
-
determine your financing needs
-
identify the financing options, including the pros and cons of each
-
prepare your documents if you want to apply for a loan
Lesson 8: Social media and low-cost marketing strategies
Now that your business is set up, you need to attract customers. Lesson 8 provides tips and tricks for using social media and other low-cost marketing channels to reach buyers and spread the word about your business.
Lesson 9: Business plan and your pitch
Writing a business plan can be challenging, but it's a critical step that will help you make decisions and get funding. This lesson includes templates and information about what to include in your plan.
You'll need to "pitch," or talk about your business just about every day, as you speak to customers, vendors and potential funders and investors. Lesson 9 also covers the essentials of a good pitch, so you'll be able to discuss your business with confidence.
