Biz Tip # 1: Name your ICA
Definition:
In case you’re wondering, your ICA is your "Ideal Customer Avatar." This is someone who represents your perfect customer. When you’re talking to potential customers in your marketing materials, with your website verbiage, when you’re promoting your products or services—you should be talking to your ICA.
Why you should care:
You need to know your ICA like you know your best friend. After all, without your ideal customers buying from you, you wouldn’t have a business.
What do does your ICA for a living? Are they married or single? Do they live in Cincinnati? Where do they hang out online? Where do they go for a night out? What TV shows do they binge?
All these details are critical when you’re creating your ICA.
So why should you name your ICA?
Just like when you’re being introduced to someone, knowing their name helps you feel more comfortable with them. The name helps you think of your ICA as a real person.
When you’re writing a social post to appeal to your ICA, it’s incredibly valuable to be able to think, “I wonder if Joe will like this.”
When you know their name, it’s like talking to a friend.
